Welcome to a Fetchly Diary session! In this blog series, you will meet different team members and learn more about their work, life experiences, and personalities. This week’s feature is Bruna Cabral, one of our fantastic Project Managers!
Bruna, tell us about yourself
I’m from Curitiba, which is in South Brazil. I’m a mom of a 4-year-old, his name is João, and he’s a big Super Mario fan. I love dancing, yoga, and working in an environment with new things to learn every day. I also enjoy engaging in sports that are related to dance, because I'm not a gym person. I need to do some stuff that helps with cardio and also gives me the freedom to eat what I want to. Today, I practice contemporary and pole dance. Teaching things that bring joy to my son is my passion, as well as talking with and getting to know new people.
What does a typical weekend look like for you?
I try to engage in some fun activities with my son after school on Friday, it doesn't matter what it is, I pause every other task and focus all of my attention on what he wants to do. Most times we go out to the lake when it's not cold, and we rent paddles and just have a fun time together. On Sundays, we visit my siblings to have lunch and he plays and paints with his cousins. At weekends when I’m not with him, I attend dance classes after work on Friday and hang out at clubs with friends Saturday evenings. I will usually close out those weekends by binge-watching Friends on Sunday.
How did you end up in the tech industry?
Before Fetchly, I worked as a Customer Service Rep and also a bit as an App Tester, so I guess I was already working with tech a little bit. When I saw the Project Manager job at Fetchly, I wasn’t sure if I could leave sales, because I’ve always worked in sales. However, a friend who works at Fetchly encouraged me to apply anyways. I interviewed for a QA role but was told my skill set was better suited Project Management so I jumped right in. I took some courses in project management to get myself up to speed and have been learning more and more along the way.
How has it been working at Fetchly?
It’s very exciting. I love my Job and I’m always in sync with my team. I feel that way because we talk all the time for stand-ups but even more so because everyone is really friendly and expressive, so it's easier to communicate and understand when there's a problem and how to fix it. It's refreshing to know that I can reach out to my team and they can do the same, even when it’s just about feeling overwhelmed and just wanting to talk to someone. Working at Fetchly has been amazing so far, we are a really good team and I’m excited about what's to come.
Describe your dream vacation
I love experiencing new things and meeting new people and also experiencing different cultures, foods, and languages. I once went to Rio de Janeiro and I spent a week there. Each day I woke up, walked around, met, and talked with new people about several things. It was an amazing experience for me. If I were to pick one place, I would like to go to Paris. Not for any particular reason, it just seems like a nice place that I could go to and discover some good stories.
